Untreated Yeast
Infection
Yeast infection
is a common problematic medical condition which, if left
unaddressed, may go on to cause severe diseases. Infact,
chronic yeast infection or Candidiasis is often read as a
symptom of bigger diseases such as progressive HIV; although
this is quite rare. However, it’s important that you recognize
the symptoms of yeast infection at the very outset and get it
treated quickly before it poses bigger
threats.
Yeast infection
during the menstrual cycle is a very common condition amongst
women. They are usually mild, but if the symptoms persist, you
are advised a visit to your gynecologist or your family doctor
who can assess the situation and treat it. As always, the body
has its own ways to treat the infection, at least temporarily,
without any external medical help. During the menstrual cycle,
the pH level in the vagina increases due to the blood flow. As
a result, the growth and activity of yeast cells cease to a
large extent. This is the body’s natural way of combating yeast
infection. As mentioned before, the infection usually occurs
during the menstrual cycle and the body can, under normal
circumstances, treat it without medicines.
Thus, you also
have the option of leaving the infection untreated and to be
taken care of by the body. Often, the symptoms recur, every
time with increasing severity …so it’s advised that you do not
take the risk and get it treated the first time itself. You
should also keep in mind that if you’re suffering from yeast
infection during pregnancy and leave it untreated, it can recur
in your baby’s mouth as oral thrush. Moreover, the untreated
infection can progress and turn into a bigger disease. To
diagnose the disease correctly, the first thing you’ll need to
do is recognize its symptoms. The symptoms of yeast infection
are extreme pain in the infected area, discomfort during
intercourse and a burning sensation during urination.
Sometimes, the symptoms may also include a whitish discharge
from the vagina accompanied by an odor.
What really
happens in those conditions when the yeast infection is left
untreated? One disease that may develop due to an untreated
infection is a bacterial disease of the blood called sepsis. It
is a lethal disease which affects the bloodstream. Vulvovaginal
candidiasis is yet another disease that occurs as a consequence
of yeast infection. Yeast infection is actually very common in
women, as revealed by a study very recently. But very rarely
does it go on to cause more serious ailments. Keeping in mind
the hazards of untreated chronic yeast infection, we advise you
not to ignore this condition as it is as serious as other
diseases.
